Suction Diffuser Plus

Suction Diffuser Plus

•Flow Cone (patent pending) eliminates recirculation zones, directing flow toward the pump, improving flow conditioning, and maximizing pump efficiency retention
•Space saving elbow design facilitates a close transition between return piping and pump suction, eliminating the need for straight lengths of pipe and separate long radius elbows or reducing elbows.
•Full Length straightening vanes assure uniform flow pattern for pump inlet
•Large diameter orifice cylinder prevents debris from entering pump suction while maintaining low pressure drop
•Fine mesh throwaway start-up strainer assures cleaner, more trouble free system.
•Optional pressure/temperature ports permit checking of system conditions and verification of start-up strainer presence.
•Completely removable internals for fast and easy maintenance.
•Choice of carbon steel or stainless steel internals.
•Wide size range from 2”x1½” to 10”x10”
•Common installation dimensions compared to previous B&G designs making retrofits easy
•Easily removable end cap with reusable o-ring
•Plug/Blow down connection permits routine maintenance

Description

The Bell & Gossett Suction Diffuser is an angle pattern flow straightening fitting that combines a diffuser-strainer orifice cylinder and full length straightening vanes to provide ideal flow conditions for the pump suction. It saves space and money by eliminating the need for long or short radius elbows, reducing flanges, and long lengths of pipe leading into the suction side of the pump. Its full length straightening vanes help provide a fully uniform flow pattern into the pump, reducing uneven stress on the pump impeller and shaft and extending the life of the pump.
B&G Suction Diffusers are available in a wide range of sizes, from 2×1-1/2 in. to 10×10 in. Users can select from a choice of steel or stainless steel orifice cylinder and straightening vanes, and models are available with flange, groove, and NPT (up to 3×3 in.) end connections. All Suction Diffusers are suitable for up to 250 deg. F max temperature. Flanged and NPT models are rated for 175 psig max working pressure, while grooved models are suitable for 300 psig max working pressure.
