Gas Pressure Regulators

Natural gas regulators are specifically designed to handle the lower pressures typical of natural gas distribution systems. They ensure that the gas is delivered to appliances or systems at a safe and consistent pressure.

In contrast, propane regulators are built to handle the higher pressures commonly found in propane storage and delivery systems. These regulators are crucial for reducing the high tank pressure to a usable level for residential or commercial appliances.

To size a gas pressure regulator, first identify the gas type, then determine both the inlet (P1) and outlet (P2) pressures required. Measure the maximum and minimum flow rates, typically in SCFH or L/min, and refer to the manufacturer’s flow charts for orifice sizing. Determine the stability of the inlet pressure and the level of precision required for the outlet pressure. 

There are several additional factors to consider, such as pressure relief valves, gauges, and material compatibility, especially for specific gasses like oxygen or flammable gasses which require safety-certified equipment.

All pressure regulators have a range that they can operate in, and they can be adjusted by the internal spring.

All of the regulators that we sell can be used for either natural gas or propane. The equipment is the same, but it is sized differently because the BTU load is different depending on the fuel that is being used.

2. Two-Stage Regulators: Reduce pressure in two steps for consistent, precise outlet pressure.
3. Spring-Loaded Regulators: Utilize a spring mechanism to control the diaphragm for versatile and reliable pressure adjustment.
4. Pilot-Operated Regulators: Use a pilot valve to control the main valve for precise pressure regulation.
5. Internal Relief Regulators: Equipped with an internal relief valve to vent excess pressure, ensuring safety.
6. Lock-Up Regulators: Shut off flow when downstream demand ceases, maintaining set pressure.
7. Balanced Valve Regulators: Feature a balanced valve design to compensate for inlet pressure changes, ensuring steady outlet pressure.
8. High-Pressure Regulators: Designed to handle very high inlet pressures and safely reduce them to a usable level.
